The Doubt of ones self.

Hello! Today I'd like to talk about something everyone goes thru now and again , Self doubt . There are some days where everything I draw looks like the ugly donald trump portrait,

or not even as good as that, I mean that shading is pretty good. what a likeness... lol

But all jokes aside , having off days in art can be, frustrating at best! Trust me , and looking up videos online of other artist's painting flawless portraits wont help you out either. Its important to remember however, That all artist bring something different to the table. All artist have a different style of painting, singing, song writing ,designing clothes ,ect.. For Example , one could love listening to band 'Train' as well as listening to 'One Republic' or 'Tom Petty'. For people who love paintings , They could love Van gogh, Claude Monet, or Salvador Dali! All different styles and all very good artist's! Tho there are some people who hate those artist's! A good thing to remember with self doubt is that "not everyone's gonna love you or your art ." And thats fine, Not everyone will. Also, everyone has different taste , I always find it comical when im showing a person something in my sketch book, and i accidentally flip to something i frankly think looks pretty bad. and they end up liking that more than the one i was showing them in the first place! 5 Tips for minimalising self doubt . 1.Start keeping a journal. Keeping a journal is a good way to destress , keeping a realistic record of life event's from when you were on top ,to when you hit rock bottom. this will allow you to look back on the good times to encourage you, as well as letting you know, this too shall pass. 2.Take it easy. If you take to much time off you'll get alot worse, however There has been many studies done on how the brain works better after taken brakes between learning. so if you're feeling like your dragging and your art is not as grand as you'd like it to be, sit back and take a little time off!

3.Build up your skills. Now i know that i just said its good to rest, But at the same time its important to always keep working at what you love. look up tutorials , take some classes, keep a sketchbook where you can be free to "not be good" . Sketchbooks are meant to be for free thinking and not perfection. tho i understand it can be hard leaving something looking "doodley" and not finished. 4.Get Inspired! There's so much out there to look at to draw inspiration from , from inspiration blogs to scrolling thru pintrest for hours. there's inspiration every where! It Just takes finding that and harnessing it.

5. Dont beat your self up about it. Its okay to not be at the top of your game or to think your art work isnt that great all of the time. Use that as a driving force to do much better in the future and push yourself to bigger and better things. Its easy to fall into a black hole of pitty and self doubt. Just dont beat your self up about it , and when you do go and look up, "better artist than you". Remember that even some of our favorite artist , have "unfinished "sketchbooks hiding tucked away in their studios.
